Traveling does not need to put you in the poor house, just follow these 10 cheap travel tips to save money and still enjoy your vacation.

Carry Snacks With You

Buying snacks in bulk before you go and dividing them up into zip lock bags saves the cost and hassle of purchasing snack foods while traveling.

Bring Along A Water Bottle

Cheap travel tips do not need to be time consuming and inconvenient. This one is easy and simple. Just pack a nice water bottle and refill it whenever you get the chance, so you don’t have to purchase bottled water.

Look For Packages

Finding packages for services and attractions can be one of the most invaluable of all cheap travel tips. Package deals can be found on most things, from shuttle rides if you purchase round trip in advance, to hotel room rates that include free breakfast.

Walk Places

This tip can save you a lot of money and has the added benefit of allowing you to get your exercise in. It is also a great way to explore a new area.

Use Grocery Stores

Every meal does not need to be eaten at a restaurant. It can be great fun to find a grocery store and buy something from the deli and take it to a nearby park.

Bring Along Entertainment

Many people spend their time on vacation jumping from one attraction to another with no time in between. Why not bring along a book or camera and spend a day or two relaxing?

Save Extra Food

If you receive extra food on an airplane or with a meal, bring it with you so that you have a snack available and do not have to purchase one.

Go Camping

Road trips can really add up when you are staying in a hotel every night. Why not bring along a tent and spend some of the nights camping. You can alternate nights between a hotel and tent in order to avoid feeling grungy.

Plan Your Trips During Off-Times

Cheap travel tips can include staying at quality, premium places. This can be achieved through finding the times that are considered off-season and planning your trip during that time. Most hotels and attractions have times of the year when they fill up and can demand higher prices, but also times of the year when they do not get a lot of visitors and are willing to offer great deals to allure guests.

Don’t Be Afraid To Request Forgotten Items

If you forget a toothbrush or razor do not hesitate to call the front desk if you are staying at a hotel and asking for one. Most hotels have extras like this available and it saves you the money of purchasing one.

Follow these ten cheap travel tips to make your vacation cost effective and stress-free.

Traveling Tips For Women Travelers in India

India, a nation of unity in diversity, has myriad of rich history, culture, heritage, religions, traditions, cuisines and people. It is a magical domain and most people fall in love with this country as soon as they come here. Even after the modern influence of western countries, India still remains, somewhat, a conservative country. Some western habits are perceived as inappropriate and degrading if practiced by women here. Some travel tips for women travelers in India would make their trip more exciting and easy. Because of the social conservatism, it’s important that women travelers educate themselves to India’s social mores and culture to best prepare for a safe journey.

Women travelers in India should be extremely particular about their clothing, safety, packing , monetary matters, language and shopping. These tips will prove beneficial making your journey a lifetime experience. With regards to clothing tips for women travelers in India avoid wearing too revealing dresses. Low cut, tight-fitting shirts, tank tops, skirts that fall above the knees, shorts and bikinis are highly discouraged. While swimsuits can be worn in beach resort areas such as Goa, consider wearing a conservative one-piece and covering yourself with a sarong and t-shirt when you’re not sunbathing or when you are interacting with locals. Short sleeve cotton shirts can be worn in warmer climates but they should be loose fitting and not revealing. Observe the locals and dress a bit more conservatively than the most liberally dressed woman. You can incorporate some of the local dress into your outfits by shopping once you arrive in-country. Purchase a locally made blouse or delicate scarf or shawl to wear over your Western-style clothes.

Safety tips for women travelers in India should be of the prime concern. You should be alert of the opportunistic thieves. Your personal safety and the potential theft of your belongings should be taken care of. To prevent sexual harassment, keep your arms folded in front of you in large crowds and on public transportation. It’s best not to initiate conversations that could be construed as flirtatious or personal and sidestep answering personal questions about yourself. If you’re traveling alone or with a female friend, invent a husband and make it clear that you are not interested in anyone else. Avoid situations where you may find yourself alone with a man. When traveling on public transportation, lock your bags together with a cable lock and then to a stationary object such as a bench or immovable seat.

The lighter the bag, the lesser you sag ! Nothing new to say here except ‘Travel Light’. Yet, in your enthusiasm to have a weightless bag, do not throw out the essentials. Inclusion of sun screen lotion, sun glasses, umbrella, brimmed hats is important to guard you against sun tan. Also include eye patches, camera, water bottle, first aid kit. Pack your bag according to the region and climate you are traveling in. Your day bag may contain the essentials (camera, book, lip balm, tissues, pen, journal, light snack). A bag made of slash-proof material and strap is ideal.

While traveling, you should be sure that you are carrying your money safely. Though there are no such risks of people snatching your money, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Pouches that can be fastened with an attached belt to your waist and can also be worn under clothing are best. This is the most popular and safest way to carry money safely. Your money and other valuable documents like ATM cards, passports and credit cards also in the pouch should be kept hidden from others. Keep some loose change in your pockets for giving to beggars who might mob you. Do not flash rolls of currency notes in front of them. You can also lose the purse and carry a variety of currency options in at least two locations on your body.

With regards to lingua franca, for most parts of India you won’t really need to mug up any local lingo. Yet, if sometime you get stuck, Hindi should help you get going. It is spoken in fair parts of north India and understood in the west too. Down south is the domain of the Dravidian languages. It’s either English or a regional language that will do the trick. So, pick up some words in both Hindi and regional language and get going.

The shopping enthusiast women cannot resist the temptation of picking up the Indian expertises. The the Indian bazaars - a place that puts your temptation resistance skills at test, are stuffed with bright and beautiful things - handicrafts, silks, ethnic jewelry, curios and what have you. You can shop till you drop. But you should try to strike the best deal so do not hesitate to bargain. Be ready to pay additional customs and handling charges.

No place round the globe is that safe for women traveler but keeping these tips in mind, your trip to India will at least be unscathed and secure. Wear your smile and stick tight to your sense of humor with presence of mind. It will definitely help you through the multitudinous complexities that make up a trip to this fascinating region.

My husband and I have a beautiful 10 month old baby boy and desperately need to get away-alone! We are looking for a 4-5 night trip and DO NOT care about snorkeling! All-inclusive beach front property is a must. We need lots of (friendly) advice because we have never been to Mexico. We do require pretty beaches/water and lots of little drinks with umbrellas:) We are ready to travel in February, please give us some suggestions, reviews, and travel tips! Thanks so much in advance from two exhausted new parents:)
We are traveling from southwest Missouri. So far everything we have found is in the $2000 range for 2 people for 5 nights. I know there are benefits to using a travel agent, but we have always booked our own trips. Mexico is proving to be a challenge though because there are sooo many places to go! Thanks for the input so far-very helpful:) Oh yeah, and we definitely want beach front as well.
Ryan, are Cancun and Playa del Carmen the same place? I am becoming increasingly confused about how these cities are related to each other!

lanning to travel in these forthcoming vacations? Do you want to make the coming trip of yours as the most memorable one?

If yes, then simply scroll down and read these amazing travel tips that will come in very handy for your coming travel trip.

Preplan your travel:

It is essential that you make all the required arrangements before you set out to travel in order to make a comfortable and smooth journey. So, buy the traveling tickets well before you embark on your journey. If you have made the reservations on a prior basis, it is always better to check before you begin to travel so that there are no hassles faced.

Make other travel concomitant arrangements on time:

It is important that you make the arrangements for transport, that is, taxis or cabs on a prior basis so that you do not have to wait unnecessarily when you reach your travel destination. In fact, you should also book your accommodation previously so that you are saved of running around in an unknown territory looking for places to find a shelter at. Your travel agent can help you out in both these areas very easily as travel agents have contacts with all good accommodation keepers and transportation companies in various travel destinations.

Take care of your cash properly

When you travel, you tend to carry a lot of cash so that you can enjoy to the best possible exploiting the unique features and facilities of the concerned holiday place to the maximum and to buy the famous items. But carrying too much of cash is not really safe these days. In order to keep your money safe, it is better that you always carry a credit or debit card instead of heavy cash. As credit/debit cards are accepted almost everywhere they make purchases a very easy and convenient process. Moreover, they are very safe to carry as well.

Make lists of all the things you carry

It is very common for little things to get misplaced when you are traveling as the fun and frolic leaves you with less time to take care of each object you carry with yourself. So, to ensure that every piece of your belonging comes back home with you, it is a good idea to make a list of the things you carry with yourself. When you are packing to come back home, quickly recheck as per your list that all the items are there and none of them has been lost during the travel and holidaying.

These are some of the main travel tips that can help you have an enjoyable journey. Some other things that you can keep in mind are:

- Place a nametag over your belongings and suitcases so that they can be easily recognized.

- Keep extra packets of tissue napkins and medicines for several common ailments like cough, cold and headache along with antiseptics and band-aids for minor cuts and bruises.

So, avail these travel tips and have a happy journey.

I want to volunteer abroad in Costa Rica, but the cost of the programs are ridiculous. Does anyone have tips on how to earn about $2000-$3000 over the course of six months? I have a part-time job, but the money I earn from it goes toward college. (It’s not much anyway- I go in once a month)
I’m in high school, by the way.
